YWAM HISTORY

It all started when a 20-year-old American college student, who was in the Bahamas on a singing tour, spent some time in prayer. As he leaned back in his bed and looked up, he saw what he called a “mental movie.” He saw waves on a map. The waves turned into young people, going to every continent, sharing the good news about Jesus. “Was that really you, Lord?” he asked.
This radical idea, that young people could be missionaries, stayed with this young man, Loren Cunningham. Four years later, in 1960, he started an organization with that idea expressed even in its name: Youth With A Mission. Today, Youth With A Mission (YWAM) has grown into one of the world’s largest Christian mission organizations.

The story of how YWAM began and how it grew is a story of God’s direction and God’s grace in using ordinary people from all over the world to do extraordinary things. For the past forty nine years, YWAM has been pioneering new work around the globe. Now the largest interdenominational Christian missionary organization in the world, YWAM has nearly 17,000 full-time workers at over 1200 operating locations worldwide.

YWAM COATESVILLE HISTORY

YWAM Coatesville was founded in 2003 by Metui and Parla Veisauyadra. Having worked for a number of years at the YWAM location in Fiji, the Anastasis and YWAM Lausanne, Switzerland, the Veisauyadra’s were led to plant an outreach training facility in the city of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. YWAM Coatesville was created to be a “Center for Community Transformation” and a “Bridge to the Nations”! Our goal is transform our city through the spheres of society and recruit, mobilize, train and sent out radical Christians who want to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Over the past six years, we have seen God’s faithfulness in many areas as we’ve experienced growth. We now run one DTS per year and are planning to extend that to two DTS, SOW and SOE in the next two year. The Discipleship Training Schools is a gateway into Youth With A Mission.

Since 2003, God has led YWAM Coatesville through several stages of growth. Through it all, we have continued to bear fruit and advance the Kingdom of God in our city and the nations of the earth through the teaching of his word through every spheres of society.
