Tragedy in Haiti

As many of you are no doubt aware, a terribly powerful, 7.0-magnitude earthquake caused terrible devastation in the nation of Haiti on January 12.  Teams from all over the world have responded to the need for help in the region.  It has been a task of rescuing people from the rubble, getting them the necessary medical attention with what meager resources are available, providing people with food, water, and shelter, evangelism, and ministering God’s love and healing to children and adults alike who have lost everything.  We pass along some prayer alerts from the YWAM International Chairman.  Visit www.ywamhaiti.org and www.ywam.org to see regular updates.

Pray for food and supplies. Food is still in short supply and transport routes are still blocked. Fuel is short, and cash to buy anything is also hard to come by.

Pray for our YWAM Haiti staff and their families who are dealing with personal loss, as well as the trauma surrounding them. They need special gifts of grace and peace.

Pray for all the volunteers responding to help. YWAM Dominican Republic has been organizing transport into and out of Haiti for teams and supplies since the earthquake.  Teams and individuals are coming in from all over the world – pray for safe transport and fruitful service.

Give: Funds are still desperately needed.  You can give at ywam.org, or on our website, or you can send it to us here at YWAM Coatesville, PO Box 567, Coatesville, PA 19320.

COATESVILLE RELIEF TEAM – In light of this, YWAM Coatesville will be sending a team to Haiti in March to help with relief efforts.  We will be connecting with Terry Snow, the National Director for YWAM Haiti in St. Marc, who is coordinating relief efforts in the area.  Please pray for us as we get the team together.  Please also pray about coming with us, and please contact us at ywamcoatesville.haitirelief@gmail.com if you feel God is calling you to join us! Approximate dates for this trip: March 22 – April 5 2010

PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARY FRIENDS – Kevin and Audrey Martin, along with their three children, are friends of the YWAM Coatesville staff who followed God’s call to serve in Haiti last year.  They are currently working in a hospital recovery camp, where many are recovering from severe injuries from the earthquake.  Please pray that God would give them the emotional and physical strength that they need so much in order to continue on and that God would give them wisdom in dealing with all the children orphaned by this tragedy.  They have shared several miraculous stories with us.
